The department of  Grid Technologies and Applications is focused on the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, activities in the development of Grid middleware and software components, methods, algorithms and distributed applications suitable for Grid environment, future generations of Grid and Cloud computing systems. All researchers in the Department are involved in the pan-European and regional projects for building a dependable Grid infrastructure for e-science in FP6 and FP7, which is expected to be organized into a permanent European Grid Initiative (EGI).

The experienced researchers from the Department are leading newly launched research projects, funded by the Bulgarian NSF under various programmes. The multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional nature of Grid applications leads to the establishment of good relations with other leading institutions from Bulgaria, regionally and internationally, with interest in Grid computing or applications.
